Heir 's Duty

Maeda clan's warrior

Swordstore now offers Japanese art in both antique and high quality limited reproductions. We also have the ability to produce any size (within ratio) reprint that you desire whether your intention is to place in a frame, use as a banner or decorate an entire wall space – we can do it! About this scroll: This scroll was commissioned for a 1st son’s (Inuchiyo) first battle. It is unlikely that he would’ve been allowed anywhere near a battle but the number of heads taken is meant to exaggerate his prowess and as of yet untested courage. Original with kantei (documentation) available.

I received my iaito today. Although the box was in rough shape, the sword was not damaged at all. It looks and feels great. I know I will love using it and it was well worth the wait. Also, thank you for the very nice sword bag. I am quite satisfied. Bob

Rick and Yuri, I received the Tsuba and I just wanted to just to say how beautiful it is. It is really a nice piece and looks fantastic on my Shinken. Looking for ward to taking it to the dojo and showing it off. Thank you again.

Hi Rick, I just placed my order with your company. I've got to say I'm really looking forward to seeing this katana in my hand. I honestly think I looked at every sword retailer with an online store and damn there are a lot of them. I think you'll be pleased to know that none of them offer as nice a product as yours in this price range, IMHO even the products they offer in the next price bracket up don't look as good! Most were prebuilds with a few exceptions. Those that do offer custom iaito builds invariably came in between $100 to $200 more than swordstore.com and with far fewer koshirae choices, blade length, and tsuka length. I know this is not as credible an endorsement yet as I haven't received my order, but speaking in terms of the above mentioned advantages and the prompt responses to emails and questions I feel confident what I've ordered will surpass even my optimistic hearsay. In the production sword market I'd say that's pretty hard to come by these days. Regards, Chad

Rick let me first say that you at swordstore just won me as a client! I have contacted multiple companies and smiths and non of them replied more than once or twice on my questions including Jidai. I have talked to big collectors and sellers like Frederick Weissberg and Ted Tenold and again non showed such proffesionalism or verification of quality work. Now here comes the sort of bad part which is that at this exact moment I do not have the money. But fear not for I am determined to get a katana as soon as I can. I still have the exact details of the katana to think about but I will say it again, I WILL definately buy a sword from you! In fact I may even want to buy a wakizashi in the future to make a matching daisho. Regards.

Rick, good morning! My wife and I had a Bible study last night so we weren't able to make it home until around 9:30 pm; however, when we pulled up we noticed the box awaiting us on the step. What happened next was likely entertaining to watch, mainly me trying not to tear into the package and actually feed the cats and change first. My wife was kind enough to get out her nice DSLR camera and photograph the entire process. It took a moment to get the sageo on, mostly getting it through the tiny metal pieces, but I managed. Afterwards I got out my wakizashi and paired them together, they now sit on their own stand on the mantle in my bedroom, with the cleaning kit to the one side and the registration paper to the other. What is the exact translation of the engravings, do you happen to know? To make a point, I had my wife hold it, and of course she said the classic line of "Wow, it's lighter than I expected!", I could only smile. Truly though, this piece is so much superior to anything else I've ever witnessed. Aside from the length, American knockoffs which attempt to fold steel are always so much broader and relatively straight. They look clunky and cheap. I couldn't help but marvel at the shine and the hamon, truly beautiful. The dragon came out amazing, my wife took one look at it and exclaimed "It's very you". On the reverse side, is it a sword with a clawed pummel? It's awesome, I just want to be accurate when describing it to others. Oh, and I cannot get over how truly unique and beautiful the saya is, unparalleled. Rick, thank you so much for facilitating this process. I am truly grateful. Mack

Hi Rick, Hope all is well. I want to thank you so much for the amazing sword I have received. It is meeting 200% of my expectations: balance, handling, weight, design, sound, .. You took care of my requierements. Handling a sword where the tsuka was not appropriate before (too long and too thick), I was getting injuries. That said, I had to start somewhere and unfortunately my choice at that time was motivated by special features/design which I have learned from. The new sword is now best and perfect fit for me. Last class and by the end, I was already starting to make efficient and very satisfying cuts and handling. I would recommend your company and service any time. I have one experienced Iaido colleague that is to purchase a sword next year and from a different company. As soon he tried my sword, he was amazed and now thinks to order from you. Hope your business will last for long time! My best regards, Benoit

I received my new iaito and it is great. There was a small problem with the tuska. Rick took care of it immediately ( no charge under warranty! ), when I returned the sword to him. What can I say, great swords, great after sales services. What more can you ask for.

Rick, The latest sword arrived this week and was safely delivered to my student’s hands this morning. It is a marvel! Only 690 grams, perfectly balanced, and beautiful. My student has the most delightful grin on his face. My congratulations, and deep appreciation for your diligence and support. Warm regards, Jonathan
