Gifu Prefecture is known throughout Japan and the world as the center for Japanese sword making since the time of the three great warlords. We represent many of the finest makers and crafts people making swords and practice blades in Japan today. We also provide sword restoration services and a full range of products for both the martial artist and the antique collector.

Swordstore.com is wholly owned by Cutting Edge Technologies Inc. (CET, Inc.) and we have been in business since 1991 and on the internet as a web store since 1995.

Japanese swords are made by master smiths called Toshyo. Each smith must be licensed by the Japanese government and must use traditional methods in Japanese sword making. Each sword is registered by the Japanese government. The Japanese government also controls the number of katana length swords each smith can make to two a month. There are approximately 350 registered smiths in Japan ranging from once in awhile hobbyists to full time smiths.

Yuri Polland is Swordstore's Web Master and is both Microsoft and Novell Certified. Yuri is a guest instructor for Learning Tree Intl. Pac Rim Ops. Yuri has been involved with the internet since it's inception as the MIS Manager at the U. of MD. School of Medicine.

Tom Sakaguchi is Swordstore's Sales Manager. Besides being an avid tsuba collector with an extensive private collection. Tom also practices Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido both in Japan and the U.S. and holds the rank of Rokudan.
